What is the Alexander Technique?

The Alexander Technique is a gentle yet powerful method of changing the patterns of behaviour that cause unnecessary wear and strain on muscles and joints, giving our minds and bodies a chance to work more freely.

It teaches you how to avoid unnecessary strain and tension in everyday activities such as standing, sitting, bending, using a computer - or even eating and drinking! By learning to release tension and move more fluently, you'll find the Technique will help you feel calmer, taller, lighter and looser.

Many doctors, physiotherapists and osteopaths recommend the Technique. Although highly trained, Alexander Technique teachers are not medical advisors and do not make medical diagnoses.
